Billionnaire seeking virgin bride

In yesterday's New York Times, there was an interesting story about how young, rich Chinese entrepreneurs are looking for brides these days. I must confess that I was quite surprised to hear that some of these rich businessmen insisted that their would-be bride be virgin. Rich people, even in my part of the world, tend to have a rather "modern", hedonistic lifestyle, and could not care less about such old-fashioned ideas as chastity or virginity. It's quite refreshing to see that permissive moral attitudes from western culture have not pervaded the Chinese mentality, as of yet.

On a side note: in today's NYT, there was a story about the phenomenal growth rate of the Chinese economy. Have a look: it's quite interesting!

Let's wait and see what will happen next...

Well, if I spoke this language, i would. But since I am not quite bi-lingual yet...

My thoughts on this is positive. I think it’s great too that such ideas of having a virgin wife are still held in importance in other cultures. I wish the western culture was still in tact in that area. Unfortunately, we, as a western culture, have depleted and watered down the importance of chastity and purity. We find no importance in the self respect of our men or women, and find this to be old fashioned and ancient. If it were up to me, we would live in the old fashion years forever. It’s the best way to be. Alhamdulilah.

what language are you speaking?

Wa alaykum assalam Nurah, and welcome to this blog.

I think you're right in what you're saying, in that the dominant currents in western culture do not attach great importance to "old fashioned" notions such as chastity anymore. But, every now and then, we hear of people who advocate these values, and I think we should join forces with them (regardless of their background) to promote these and other values of dialogue and understanding within the western world.

BTW, most moroccans speak both arabic and french, and that's why on this blog, we are using also french. But i am sure if you write in english, most visitors here will understand you.

Salaam.
